Biography
Although Beastie Boys are widely known as a hip-hop group, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame places their emergence in Lower Manhattan’s hardcore-punk scene. UMe’s official artist introduction likewise describes the group as starting as a hardcore-punk act in 1981.
For readers who want to explore the wider U.S. hardcore and punk context, see PUNKLEX’s Bad Brains article as a related archive. The link is a reading path, not a claim of a direct influence or collaboration between the two groups.
